There’s a well-equipped kitchen/dining area, ideal for self-catering for a family leading to the welcoming living room. The living room has a cosy wood-burning stove and a door leading out onto the sheltered garden and seating area with views to the western hills beyond. There’s a handy toilet on the ground floor, and stairs leading to the first floor where there is a modern shower room and four delightful bedrooms. Two bedrooms enjoy views over the garden to the hills, two with comfy kingsize beds. The other two bedrooms enjoy views into the garden grounds, one equipped with a single bed and the other with twin beds. Thoughtfully renovated and decorated in a traditional with contemporary touches, it’s a comfortable cottage ideal for a larger family or group family.
Killean Farm was built in the 17th century and has served as a farmhouse and family home for many years. The cottages were converted from the original farm buildings and are set in a square around a courtyard. Despite its rural location, there’s a café and bar within 1½ miles or a 30 minute walk from the cottage. It’s just five minutes’ drive into the heart of Inveraray, home to Inveraray Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll. Inveraray offers many local amenities and attractions with traditional pubs and cafés, independent stores, supermarket, a spa and a golf course. Travelling along the A83 coastal Loch Fyne road take you past the small village of Furnace, eight miles away, with a village hall, convenience store and post office. Continue 12 miles to the small county town of Lochgilphead, which has an interesting eclectic shops, cafés, bars and a leisure centre with swimming pool. On the way, you’ll pass the Museum of Highland Village Life at Auchindrain, the National Trust Gardens at Crarae, and with a themed activity and adventure centre nearby, there’s always plenty to see and do.
This part of Argyll has miles of unspoilt countryside with fantastic mountain, woodland and coastal walks to enjoy. Nature lovers will enjoy abundant wildlife and many Nature and Forestry reserves offering walking and cycling routes. A trip to Oban, the Gateway to the Isles, just a 40 minute drive, gives you access supermarkets, ferry terminal, shops, cafés, restaurants, a cinema, leisure centre and whisky distillery. On the way to Oban, there are a number of beautiful attractions to visit including Kilchurn Castle, St Conan’s Kirk, Cruachan Visitor Centre, and Loch Awe. For day trips, you are conveniently situated for ferries to Arran, Bute, Islay and Gigha, and to Campbeltown, Kilmartin, Glencoe and Loch Lomond. Beach 1 mile.
