St Andrews Church is in East Barkwith, out in the Lincolnshire countryside. It's exactly what it sounds like: a converted church. It's detached and sits in its own bit of woodland. The patio looks out over a small lake and fields.
It sleeps four people. There are two bedrooms up on a mezzanine level and one bathroom downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating. The conversion is high-spec. You'll see the old stone floor in the kitchen and the original font in the living area. The ceilings are painted with patterns. It's a unique place.
The layout is all open-plan downstairs. Because it's a church, the entrance door is the original heavy one and the main window is a tall arch. The bedrooms are up a spiral staircase. It's fine, but you should know it's there.
You can walk or cycle straight from the door into the lanes. The nearest shop and pub are about a mile and a half away in the village.
By car, you can get to a few places easily. Horncastle, known for its antiques, is about 15 minutes away. Louth is a nice Georgian market town about 20 minutes drive. Lincoln, with the cathedral and castle, is about 25 minutes. The coast at Skegness or Mablethorpe is roughly 35 minutes.
If you're interested in nature, the seal colony at Donna Nook is a notable visit. For historic houses, Gunby Hall and Doddington Hall are both within easy reach.
Facilities: there's parking, a garden patio, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. The property is described as wheelchair accessible at the entrance. Sorry, no pets.
