Ty Bobbet

It’s called Ty Bobbet. It's on the edge of Penysarn, which is basically part of the old Parys Mountain copper mining area. The cottage itself is one of those old solid stone ones, built for the miners. It’s just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s been updated to be comfortable – the kitchen’s decent, there’s a woodburner for colder nights – but it’s still a cottage. The ceilings are low in places. That’s how they built them.

It’s quiet here. You look out over fields. There’s a small shop a few minutes’ walk away for basics. For a pub or a restaurant you’d drive down to Amlwch, that’s two and a half miles.

Benllech beach is about a ten minute drive. It’s a good long sandy beach. Moelfre is a nice little village on the coast, about the same distance. The coastal path runs all along there if you’re walking.

The mountain itself, Parys Mountain, is right here. It’s a strange, coloured landscape from the mining. You can walk the trails up there. It’s a ten minute walk from the door.

Further afield, you’ve got the whole of Anglesey to explore. The A55 gets you across to the mainland for Snowdonia in under an hour. Day trips to Ireland from Holyhead are possible if you’re up for it.

What’s here: parking for one car right outside. There’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. The heating and electricity are included. Bedding and towels are too. We allow one well-behaved dog. There’s a cot and highchair if you need them.
