Mountain View is a barn conversion on our sheep farm in Sarnau. It’s in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The views are good, straight over to the hills.
Sleeps four. Two bedrooms and the bathroom are all downstairs. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor, one twin and one double. The bathroom has a bath with a shower in it. The living area is upstairs, so you’re up in the eaves. The dining table is by the window facing the hills. You can just sit and look out.
The garden is enclosed, which is handy. There’s a separate utility bit round the back with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
It’s a working farm, so you’ll see sheep. The skies here are very dark, so if it’s a clear night the stargazing is excellent. There’s coarse fishing in the pond if you bring your gear. Mobile signal is fine and there’s WiFi.
The nearest shop and pub are about three miles away in Llangorse. Brecon is about eight miles. It’s a market town with the usual shops and cafes. The Royal Welsh Museum is there if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
For walking, Pen y Fan is the obvious one. It’s the highest point around here. The Brecon Beacons National Park website has all the routes. You can drive to the start of popular walks from here in under half an hour. The National Trust has a few places nearby like Dinefwr.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, parking. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable. One thing to note is that because the living area is upstairs and it’s a barn conversion, the ceiling is sloped in parts. You’ll need to mind your head in places. No pets.
If you’ve got a bigger group, you can book the place next door, Woodland View, as well.
