Mountain View is our place in Sarnau, Powys. It's a converted barn on our sheep farm. You'll be in the middle of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and the bathroom are downstairs. Both bedrooms are on the ground floor. One's a double, the other has two singles. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower cubicle.
Upstairs is all one open space: kitchen, living area, dining table. The main thing is the view. The windows look right out at the Beacons and the Black Mountains. You eat breakfast looking at that. At night, because there's not much light pollution, you can see the stars really clearly.
Outside, there's a small enclosed lawn. It's safe if you've got kids. There's also a utility room round the back with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
You're on a working farm, so you'll see sheep. There's coarse fishing on one of the ponds if you're into that. The property has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. We've made the entrance and ground floor wheelchair accessible.
The nearest shop and pub are in Talgarth, about three miles away. Brecon is a bit further, maybe twenty minutes by car. It's a proper market town with shops and cafes. The Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh is there if that's your kind of thing.
For walking, you're right in it. You can drive to the start of the path up Pen y Fan, which is the highest peak around here. The Brecon Beacons National Park website has all the maps and route ideas. If you want to explore further, Hay-on-Wye is about half an hour's drive for the bookshops.
We provide all the bedding and towels. There's parking right by the cottage. Sorry, we don't take pets. If you're coming with a bigger group, we have another cottage next door called Woodland View. You can book both together.
