The Cart House is in Merthyr Cynog, which is about eight miles north of Brecon. It's a small, one bedroom place that sleeps two, converted from the old cart house on the property. It's right next to our house, The Old Vicarage, so I'm usually around if you need anything.
It's a 5 Star place, which is nice, but it's small and simple. The bedroom and bathroom are all on one level and it's wheelchair accessible from the parking space right outside.
You get a private patio out the front, which faces the lane and the old Norman church, St Cynog's. It's very quiet here, just a few houses. The view is over fields. There's a wood burning stove for cosy evenings.
You can bring one dog. The patio is enclosed, so it's safe for them, but the garden area isn't huge. There are plenty of footpaths leading straight from the door for walks.
Amenities wise, it has everything you'd need. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, TV, and all the bedding and towels are included.
The nearest shop, pub, or restaurant is in Brecon, about eight miles away. So you'll need a car. Brecon's got the usual small town things, a cinema, some decent places to eat, and you can walk along the canal. The Brecon Beacons National Park website is good for walking maps.
From here, you're well placed for the Epynt Way for walking or cycling. Builth Wells is about twenty minutes away for the Royal Welsh Showground events. Hay-on-Wye is about forty minutes if you like bookshops.
