The Quaich

The Quaich is in Fearnan, on the north side of Loch Tay. It's an end-terrace house. The main bit is all upstairs. You walk in on the ground floor where the bedrooms are, then go up a flight of stairs to the living room and kitchen. It feels a bit back-to-front but it works.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have their own shower rooms. One of the twin rooms has beds that can be zipped together into a big double if you ask beforehand. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's done to a good standard, everything's clean and new.

The best thing is the view from upstairs. The living room has big windows and a balcony looking straight over the loch to the mountains. You can sit there for ages. The kitchen is part of the same room, it's open plan.

Across the road there's access to a bit of grass and shingle beach by the loch. You have fishing rights there if that's your thing.

Fearnan itself is quiet. There's a shop and a pub about two miles away in Kenmore. Kenmore has a couple of golf courses too. For a proper day out, you can drive up the loch side. There are Munros all around if you like walking. Ben Lawers is close. The National Trust for Scotland looks after Ben Lawers. Schiehallion is another big one nearby.

On the loch, you can rent boats or go on cruises from Kenmore. For a drive, Gleneagles is about an hour away. Edinburgh or Glasgow are both around a two-hour drive if you fancy a city trip.

It has a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. Sorry, no pets.
