Tarrant Valley House - Sleeps 16

Tarrant Valley House is on a working farm just outside Blandford in Dorset. It sleeps sixteen people across eight bedrooms, and every bedroom has its own bathroom. The rating is five star, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.

It's actually three properties joined together. The main farmhouse sleeps most of the group. Then there's a ground floor apartment attached to the side, and a separate two-person cottage opposite. That works well if a couple want a bit more privacy, or if you have grandparents who prefer fewer stairs. Both of the smaller places have outdoor bathtubs.

Inside the main house, the kitchen has an Aga. The family room has a big corner sofa and an open fire. There's a more formal sitting room too. Upstairs, the bedrooms are all different. Three have freestanding baths as well as showers.

Outside, there's a walled garden with a lawn, some games and tree swings. There's also an enclosed orchard with a play area for young children. The indoor pool and sauna are a big feature, especially if the weather isn't great.

You can walk to the village pub in about five minutes. For a wider choice of shops and places to eat, Blandford Forum is about ten minutes by car.

Being in Dorset, you're well placed for days out. The coast at Poole and Bournemouth is roughly half an hour south. The National Trust's Kingston Lacy estate is nearby. For a proper beach and the Jurassic Coast, you're looking at a forty-minute drive to places like Lulworth. If you're walking, the National Trust Dorset page is useful, as is the Dorset AONB site.

Practical things: the price includes bedding, towels, electricity and wifi. There's parking. You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair. There's a barbecue.
