Yew Tree Cottage

Yew Tree Cottage is in Farnham village. It’s a thatched cottage, so the ceilings are low and there are a lot of wooden beams. You have to watch your head in places.

It sleeps four people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bathroom is downstairs.

The layout is a bit unusual. To get from the kitchen to that downstairs bathroom, you either go outside and in through a bedroom door, or you go up some stairs and then down others. It’s not great for anyone who finds stairs difficult.

There are two sets of stairs inside. One is a spiral staircase from the dining room, which is the original one. The other is a more normal set from the living room. The living room has a wood burner for cooler evenings.

The garden is a good size. There’s a pub about 100 yards away that does food. The nearest shop is about seven miles away in Blandford, so you’ll want to bring supplies.

It’s well located for getting about. You’re about 20 minutes from the edge of the New Forest. The Jurassic Coast, places like Durdle Door, is about 40 minutes’ drive. Salisbury is about half an hour.

Locally, the Larmer Tree Gardens are worth a visit. For family days, Moors Valley Country Park has walking and cycling trails. The Dorset Heavy Horse Farm is popular with children.

Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for two cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We can take one well-behaved dog.
