Gooseberry Lodge is near Tollard Royal. It's a detached lodge overlooking a private estate, a bit down the lane from our house. It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom.
It's got a 4 Star rating so it's comfortable. Everything is on the ground floor, no steps at the front door. The layout inside is all open-plan. There's a patio with a table outside, and parking right next to it.
You're free to walk on the estate grounds. It's a working arable farm, 8000 acres. The golf and fishing here on the estate are available for guests. The riding stables are just down the road.
The local pub is about a mile away in the village. Tollard Royal feels old because it is, the pub building dates back to the 1300s. There's a shop about the same distance.
For a day out, Salisbury and its cathedral are about a 30 minute drive. Stonehenge and Avebury are both within that kind of range too. If you like walking, Cranborne Chase is right here.
Things you get: towels and bedding are provided. There's a TV and WiFi. You can bring one dog.
