Wandale Barn

Wandale Barn is outside Slingsby in North Yorkshire. It's a conversion of an old stone barn. You're right in the Howardian Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The views from the windows are just fields and trees.

It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating which, honestly, just means everything is new and works properly. It's big, solid and warm. There's a woodburning stove, which is good for winter evenings.

The garden is enclosed. There's a patio and a barbecue.

It's properly rural. The nearest shop and pub are about a mile and a half away in Slingsby. They are perfectly fine.

Everything inside is included. Bedding, towels, WiFi. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine, a TV, a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog. There's plenty of parking and a shed for bikes.

For things to do, you're spoilt for choice. Castle Howard is very close. It's a huge stately home with events, a farm shop and gardens. You can find out more here: Castle Howard.

Helmsley is a nice market town about fifteen minutes away. It's got a castle, a walled garden and plenty of cafes.

The North York Moors National Park is on the doorstep for walking. You can get the steam train from Pickering across to Whitby. That's a good day out. Whitby is a classic seaside town with fish and chips and the abbey.

York is less than an hour's drive if you want a city day. The Minster and the Railway Museum are the main draws.

If you're planning walks or want more details on the area, the North York Moors National Park website is useful. Also, National Trust York for their local properties.
