Moorhouse Farm Cottage
Moorhouse Farm Cottage is on our farm, out near Wiganthorpe. It's detached, so just you lot, and it looks out over the fields towards the Hovingham Estate. You can see for miles.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom, with a shower. The living room is open plan and there's a wood burner for when it gets cold. We've got a dishwasher and a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included.
The garden's a decent size, about a quarter of an acre, and it's enclosed. There's a patio with furniture if you want to sit outside. We're a working farm, so you might see us or the animals about. There's space to store bikes if you bring them.
We're rated 3 Star. It's comfortable and clean, but not fancy.
The nearest shop and pub are about a mile and a half away in Hovingham village. Helmsley's a nice market town, about ten miles. York is a half hour drive, maybe forty minutes depending on traffic. It's a straightforward route and the scenery is good.
You're in the Howardian Hills here, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Good for walking and cycling. For planning, the North York Moors National Park site is useful, and English Heritage has details on places like York Castle.
You can bring two dogs. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.
