Sunset Lodge

Sunset Lodge is a holiday lodge on Ocean Edge Holiday Park near Heysham. It's not a cottage, it's a modern, single-storey lodge. The rating is 5 Star, which means it's well-equipped and in good order.

It sleeps six in three bedrooms. There's a master bedroom with its own shower room and a walk-in wardrobe, and two twin rooms. There's a second, family bathroom with a shower. The main room is open plan: kitchen, dining area, and living space. French doors open onto a big deck that faces west. You get the sunset over Morecambe Bay from there. It's quite something on a clear evening.

The park itself has facilities. Between late February and early November, you can use the indoor heated pool and the sauna. There's a restaurant, a sports bar, a play area, and an arcade. Outside of those months, the park is quieter and those facilities are closed.

Heysham village is a few minutes' drive away. It's a proper old place with history. The ruins of St. Patrick's Chapel are up on the headland. The walk up there gives you the full view across the bay. Morecambe is about three miles along the coast. It's a traditional seaside town with a long promenade and a beach. Lancaster is about six miles inland. The castle is worth a visit.

For a bigger day out, you can drive into the Forest of Bowland. It's about half an hour. The Lake District is also within reach, maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic and where you're headed.

In terms of what's here: it has a dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. No pets allowed.
