The Drift Shepherd's Hut is in Peterburn, in the Highlands. It's basically a very nice shed on a hill. You get your own bit of croft land and it feels properly remote. The view is south-west, over towards Skye and the Outer Hebrides.
It sleeps two, in one bed that doubles as the sofa. There's a wood burner for heat and a wet room at the end. Everything you need is in here, it's just compact. It's got a 4 Star rating, which for a shepherd's hut means it's well-equipped and comfortable for what it is.
You can walk straight out from the hut. The beach is about five minutes down the track. Gairloch village is five miles away by road. They've got shops, a small supermarket, places to eat, and a petrol station. Boats run from the harbour there for fishing or sightseeing.
If you want to explore, you're in a good spot. Inverewe Gardens are about a 20 minute drive north. Loch Maree and the Beinn Eighe nature reserve are to the east, maybe 25 minutes. The mountains around Torridon are spectacular and that's about a 45 minute drive south. Ullapool is doable for a day trip.
Facilities: all your bedding and towels are included. There's a TV, WiFi, and parking right next to the hut. You can bring one dog. The patio has a fire pit. It's off-grid for power but has its own solar and battery setup, so the electricity is included.
