The Lodge

The Lodge is in Hardwicke, just outside Gloucester. It’s a big, single-level house, sleeps sixteen, eight bedrooms. You can take up to two dogs.

It’s all on the ground floor, which is handy for a mixed group. The layout is open plan, with the kitchen, dining and sitting area together. There’s a wood burner for cooler evenings. Off the main living space there's another sitting area people sometimes use as a quiet spot. The kitchen is a galley style and has a big fridge freezer.

There are six bathrooms, five are en-suites to bedrooms. The bedrooms are all doubles. It’s a 4 Star place, so it’s comfortable and well-equipped rather than being overly fancy.

Outside there are three courtyard areas. One has a table and some swing chairs, with lights strung up. It’s a nice spot to sit out in the evening.

The house has parking, wifi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included.

In the village there’s a local pub that does food and has music some nights. You can get to Gloucester easily for supermarkets and the like. For a day out, Gloucester Cathedral is worth seeing. Gloucester Cathedral.

You’re on the edge of the Cotswolds. Stroud is about twenty minutes away. Painswick, with its churchyard and views, is maybe half an hour. Cheltenham is about twenty-five minutes if you fancy the races or the town. For something different, the Forest of Dean is a similar drive, good for walking and cycling. The Cotswolds site has general information for the area.
