The Hideaway Cottage

The Hideaway Cottage is on a quiet street in Gloucester, a few minutes' walk from the centre. It's one of the oldest buildings here, so the walls are thick and the windows are small. You get a view of the cathedral from upstairs.

It's a three star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxurious. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. We can take one well-behaved dog.

The stairs are the main thing to know about. They're original, so they're steep, narrow, and twist around. They're fine if you take your time, but not great for anyone unsteady on their feet.

You've got a small, enclosed garden out the back with a table and chairs. There's parking for one car on the gravel right by the front door.

Inside, there's a washing machine, a TV, and WiFi. All the bedding and towels are provided.

You can walk to the shops, the market, and plenty of pubs and restaurants in under ten minutes. The cathedral is worth a visit - the cloisters were in the Harry Potter films. The docks are interesting too, if you like old industrial buildings.

For days out, the Cotswolds are right on the doorstep. Cheltenham is about twenty minutes away. The Forest of Dean is about half an hour's drive west, good for walking and cycling. Here are a couple of useful sites: Forest of Dean and Cotswolds.com.
