Violet Cottage
Violet Cottage is in Pitchcombe, which is just outside Painswick. It's actually the self-contained ground floor wing of a bigger Cotswold stone house. The owners live in the other part. You get your own front door and it's all private.
It sleeps five. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The main thing is the view from the living room. The French windows look straight out over the garden and down the Painswick Valley. It's very quiet.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids. There's parking right there.
The local shop and pub are about a mile away in Painswick. Painswick itself is nice to wander around. If you know the book 'Cider with Rosie', that area is all around here. Slad village is very close.
You're well placed for getting out. Cheltenham and Gloucester are about a twenty-minute drive. Stroud train station is close too, you can get to London from there in just over an hour. For a bigger day out, Bath is about forty-five minutes away.
There's plenty to see locally if you like walking or history. The National Trust has several properties nearby, like Newark Park. The Cotswolds website has good information for planning trips.
In terms of what's here: all the bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi, a washing machine, and a cot if you need it. No pets, I'm afraid.
