The Hazeling Hideaway is a lodge on our property, near Stroud. It's for two people. It's detached, so you're on your own out there.
It’s a single room really, open plan with a kitchen area, a sofa, and a shower room. The bed is up a spiral staircase on a mezzanine. The stairs are metal and quite narrow, so mind your head and step carefully.
The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the Slad Valley. There's a big deck with chairs right in front of the windows. You get deer and badgers in the field. We’ve been sorting the garden out since we moved here, so there are steps down from the deck to a lawn area with a picnic table.
It's quiet. The nearest pub is about a mile’s walk down the lane.
The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and we keep it clean. Everything is included: bedding, towels, electricity, and the WiFi works. There's parking right by the lodge. We allow one well-behaved dog.
For getting out, you're in the middle of the Cotswolds. Stroud is ten minutes by car for shops and cafes. Walkers like it here. The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust has several reserves in the Slad Valley, like Frith Wood and Swifts Hill. The Laurie Lee Wildlife Way links some of them.
Further out, Cheltenham is about half an hour for a bigger town. Gloucester has the cathedral and the docks. The Cotswolds website has ideas for drives and visits.
