It’s a timber lodge, fully detached, in a field just outside Hirnant. We built it ourselves. It faces out towards the fields and hills, so the view is good.
It sleeps two adults comfortably. There's one bedroom with a king size bed. The bathroom is fine, just a shower. The main living space is open plan and bigger than most pods. It’s well insulated and has a wood burner for heat. We leave logs and kindling for you.
The wood-fired hot tub is private and we'll get it warmed up for your arrival.
Being on one level, access is easy, though there's a single step up into the lodge. The wifi works but it’s rural, so don’t expect superfast. Phone signal can be patchy in the valley.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. There’s a field you can use, but please keep dogs on a lead as there’s livestock in the next field sometimes.
The nearest village, Penybontfawr, is about a mile and a half away. It has a pub that does food and a village shop. For a bigger shop, Oswestry is about a 20 minute drive.
You’re right between the Berwyn Mountains and Hirnant Forest. For a walk, Lake Vyrnwy is about 15 minutes by car. It’s a reservoir with a dam and woodland paths. The road around it is good for cycling. RSPB Lake Vyrnwy has information.
Lake Bala is in the other direction, maybe 25 minutes. They do sailing and other water sports there. The Snowdonia National Park authority starts just over the Berwyns. From here, you can get to Bala, the coast, or deeper into Snowdonia in under an hour.
Facilities: parking right outside, bedding and towels are included, TV, a patio with seating, and the hot tub.
