Wern Ddu Cottage
Wern Ddu Cottage is near Penybontfawr, just inside the Snowdonia National Park border. It's a detached house, so no neighbours on the other side of a wall. You're on the side of the Hirnant valley. The views out the front are across the valley to the hills. It's quiet.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which shows in the finish. Things like underfloor heating, a wood burner, good beds. There's a hot tub on the patio. The stairs are fine, not too steep.
You're about a mile from the village, which has a shop and a pub that does food. For a bigger shop, the supermarkets deliver. The nearest proper town is Oswestry, about a 25 minute drive.
You're well placed for getting out. Lake Vyrnwy is about 15 minutes away for walking or cycling. The Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall is maybe 20 minutes. Snowdonia National Park starts pretty much at the top of the road.
Bala is roughly half an hour. You've got the lake there and the National White-Water Centre. For a long day out, the coast around Aberdyfi is about an hour's drive. National Trust Wales has information on places like Powis Castle, which is near Welshpool.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. All bedding and towels are included. Parking for two cars. You can bring up to two dogs.
