Wern Ddu Cottage is in Penyfawr, near Oswestry. It's a detached cottage on the side of the Hirnant valley. The views are very good.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms. It's a 5 Star property, which means it's well finished and has things like underfloor heating. Everything is on one level, which is handy.
There's a wood burner and a hot tub outside. The bath in the main bedroom is one of those big, freestanding ones. There's a patio with a barbecue and the garden is enclosed.
The local village has a shop and a pub, both about a mile away. Tesco delivers here.
You're right on the edge of the Berwyn mountains. For walking, you can drive up into the hills or go to Lake Vyrnwy, which is about 20 minutes away. They do watersports and bike hire there. Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall is also about 20 minutes in the other direction.
Bala is roughly half an hour away. That's where the National White-Water Centre is, and the lake. The edge of Snowdonia National Park is about 15 minutes drive. For something different, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is under an hour's drive.
Facilities wise: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for two cars on the drive. You can bring two dogs.
