Hope Cottage is in Chittlehampton, a small village in North Devon. It’s a thatched cottage, slept in by the family who built it for generations. It’s got thick walls and low beams. It’s quiet here.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. There's a freestanding bath and a separate shower cubicle. The rating is 4 Star, which means it’s comfortable and well looked after.
Downstairs, there's a big living and dining room with a wood burner. The kitchen is a proper working kitchen. A few steps up from there is a utility room with a washing machine, dishwasher, and a separate toilet.
Outside, there’s a courtyard garden out the back. Less than a minute’s walk away is a separate lawned garden area for you to use. You can park on the street or in the large village square just around the corner.
The village has one pub, The Bell Inn. It's a good, friendly local and does food. Barnstaple is about a 15-minute drive for bigger shops. South Molton is about 10 minutes the other way.
For days out, you’re well placed. The coast at Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, and Croyde is about a 20 to 30-minute drive. Exmoor National Park is on your doorstep, maybe 10 minutes to the edge. The Tarka Trail for cycling is easily reached from Barnstaple or Bideford. Lundy Island boats go from Bideford or Ilfracombe, which is about 40 minutes away.
Facilities: everything on the list is included. Bedding and towels are provided. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
