Slade Barn is on our farm in Charles. It's a working farm, sheep and goats mostly. You'll see deer in the fields from the windows sometimes.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs with its own shower. The others are up two separate staircases. They're open-tread stairs, so you need to be a bit careful. There's a little sitting area at the top of one flight if you want a quiet spot.
The kitchen has what you'd expect: dishwasher, washing machine. The downstairs has underfloor heating, which is nice when it's cold. The garden is private, a decent size lawn and a patio.
Being here, you're about a mile from the hamlet of Charles. The proper village is Brayford, two miles away. It has a very old church and a couple of pubs. The North Devon coast is about half an hour by car. Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are the big, famous beaches there. Good for surfing.
You're right on the edge of Exmoor. For walking, you can go straight onto the moor or drive to spots like Watersmeet or the Valley of the Rocks. The Tarka Trail is good for bikes if you bring them. For a day out, Arlington Court or Clovelly are within reach.
We allow up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair here if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can park right outside.
If you've got a bigger group, Slade Cottage is next door. You can book both together.
