Slade Barn
Slade Barn is on our farm, up a track off the B-road near Charles. It’s quiet. You’ll see sheep, goats, and sometimes deer in the fields from the windows.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom is downstairs, the other three are up. The stairs are open-tread and go up in two separate flights from the living area, which some people like and some find unusual. They’re just there.
The kitchen has what you need. There’s underfloor heating downstairs which is good when it’s cold. The garden is yours, it’s a decent size with a lawn and a patio.
It’s a 4 Star place. That means it’s comfortable and well-equipped.
You’re about a mile from the hamlet of Charles. Brayford village, which has a pub, is two miles. The farm track isn’t lit, so a torch is handy if you’re back after dark.
The north edge of Exmoor is a couple of miles away. The coast at places like Woolacombe or Croyde is about half an hour’s drive. Good beaches, but can be busy.
For walking, the Tarka Trail is easily accessible and mostly flat. The South West Coast Path is obviously on the coast, about half an hour away. Exmoor itself is right there for moorland walks.
If you need things for children, there’s a cot, a highchair, and a stairgate here. You can bring up to two dogs.
The barn can be booked with Slade Cottage next door if you’re a bigger group.
