Slade Cottage is on our farm, near the hamlet of Charles in North Devon. It's a semi-detached barn conversion. You look out over some of our farm buildings and fields. We've got sheep and goats, and you'll often see deer in the fields opposite.
It sleeps four. There's one bedroom area really, it's all open plan. You've got a double bed at one end and a bunk bed at the other. The bathroom has a shower. The layout is split-level, so there are three steps up from the kitchen and living area to the sleeping space.
It's got underfloor heating, which is lovely in winter. There's a woodburner too. The patio is west-facing so you get the sun in the evening. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. We accept up to two. You can park right outside.
The local lane is very quiet. Brayford village is about two miles away, it's got a pub. The coast is about 12 miles. Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are the big beaches everyone goes to, they're about half an hour's drive. Exmoor is even closer, just a couple of miles.
For walks, you're right between Exmoor and the coast. The South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail are both easy to get to. On Exmoor, Watersmeet is beautiful. The Valley of the Rocks is dramatic. Tarr Steps is a good spot.
If you need practical links for planning: Exmoor National Park and National Trust North Devon.
Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine. We can provide a cot and a highchair. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
If you're a bigger group, we have another barn, Slade Barn, on the same farm. You could book both together.
