Logiemar Cottage is a semi-detached cottage on a quiet lane in Ballater. You get the whole place to yourselves. The garden out the back is fully enclosed, which is good if you have a dog or kids. It’s about a five-minute walk into the village centre.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well-finished and has everything you’d need. The second bedroom is smaller with a three-quarter bed, so it’s fine for kids or one adult. The main bedroom is a decent size.
It’s got a wood burner in the living room. There’s a biomass boiler for heating and solar panels, so it’s warm. They’ve also put in a wood-fired hot tub in the garden. You have to light it and wait for it to heat up, but it’s there if you want it.
The village has shops, places to eat, and a pub, all within a few minutes’ walk. The local golf course is close by too. You’re right on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, so the walking from the door is excellent. The River Dee is just there for fishing or a stroll.
Balmoral Estate is the big attraction, about two miles west. You can visit the castle and grounds when it’s open. Royal Lochnagar Distillery is nearby if you like whisky. For a day out, you’ve got castles like Crathes and Craigievar within half an hour’s drive. In winter, the ski resorts at The Lecht and Glenshee are about a 30 to 45-minute drive.
In terms of stuff, it’s got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and bike storage. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed. Parking is on the lane right outside.
