The Coyles

The Coyles is in Ballater, right in the village. It’s a big granite house built in 1888. You’re about a hundred yards from the village green, so the shops and cafes are just a short walk.

It sleeps eight people in five bedrooms. There are five bathrooms, which is handy for larger groups. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well-equipped, not just fancy.

The house has high ceilings and all the features you’d expect from a Victorian place. The stairs are normal. There’s a woodburning stove for colder nights.

Outside, there’s an enclosed garden with a patio, seating, and a barbecue. It’s quiet and looks out over fields to the south. There’s a shed for storing bikes or kayaks.

Ballater is in the Cairngorms National Park. You can walk from the door along the River Dee. For bigger walks, places like Loch Muick and Lochnagar are a short drive away. There’s a golf course in the village.

The area is known for Balmoral Castle, which is nearby. Other castles like Crathes and Craigievar are within a 30 minute drive for a day out.

If you’re here in winter, the Glenshee ski centre is about 40 minutes away by car. Aberdeen is roughly an hour’s drive if you fancy a city trip.

Facilities: parking on site, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to three dogs.
