The Coyles Cottage is on the edge of Ballater. It's a detached granite cottage, built in 1888, so you get the high ceilings and the thick walls. It looks over fields to the south.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic. It's triple glazed and has central heating, so it's cosy even in winter.
There's an enclosed garden, mostly lawn, with a patio and a barbecue. You can sit out there and it's quiet. There's a shed you can put bikes or kayaks in.
You're about a hundred yards from the village green. All the shops, cafes and a few pubs are right there. The shop does the essentials.
You're in the Cairngorms National Park. For a walk, you can just go along the River Dee. A bit further out, places like Lochnagar or Loch Muick are good for a proper hike. The Burn O'Vat is interesting.
Ballater has a golf course. Fishing on the Dee if you have a permit. For skiing, Glenshee is about forty minutes away in the winter. Balmoral Castle is a ten-minute drive.
