Eleanor Cottage is in Ballater. It’s my own family’s house, so everything in it is just as we use it. It’s a detached cottage.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped.
The main part of the house is an open-plan room. It’s big and gets a lot of light. The older part of the cottage has a smaller, cosy room with its own wood burner. The doors from both rooms lead into the garden.
The garden is south-facing, fully enclosed and private. There’s a patio with a barbecue and a summer house.
Ballater village has everything you need. Supermarket, pubs, cafes, and a few good independent shops. It’s right in the Cairngorms National Park, so you’re surrounded by hills.
From here, you can walk, cycle, fish, or play golf. For skiing, Glenshee is about 40 minutes away and Cairngorm is just over an hour. Balmoral Castle is a short drive. Aberdeen is about an hour if you need a city.
Facilities: there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and wood burners. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot and highchair if needed. We allow up to two dogs.
