Craigclunie

It's called Craigclunie. It's a detached cottage in Ballater, right in the village. Even though you're close to everything, it's quiet. The garden is at the back, south facing and fully enclosed. It's mature, so it's got some nice established plants.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a conservatory off the back with a leather sofa that opens into the garden. It's a good spot when the sun's out. In the winter, the living room is cosy and has a wood burner.

You're about 100 yards from a pub and restaurant, and the shop is 150 yards away. Ballater is a handy base. The River Dee is here for fishing. You can walk or cycle the Deeside Way. Balmoral Castle is about eight miles up the road. There's a lot of hillwalking right from the doorstep if that's your thing, with plenty of Munros around.

For days out, you've got the Castle Trail and the Whisky Trail for driving. The local distillery is Royal Lochnagar. Glen Tanar has an equestrian centre if you want to go horse riding. Aberdeen is about an hour's drive if you need a bigger city.

Facilities: there's a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. It's got bicycle storage. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. You can bring up to two pets.
