The Monaltrie
The Monaltrie is a ground floor apartment in Ballater. It's in a converted coaching inn near the River Dee. It sleeps four, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well kept.
The main thing is the space. The rooms have high ceilings and feel quite grand. The living room and main bedroom have big bay windows. You can walk straight out from the living room onto the lawn, which goes down to the river. It's very quiet out there.
Ballater is a nice village. It's known for the Royal family at Balmoral, but it's just a normal place to walk around. There are some good shops, tearooms and restaurants. The golf course is well-regarded. You can walk along the Dee right from the door.
For things to do, Royal Lochnagar Distillery is close by for whisky. Balmoral Castle is a short drive. Crathes Castle and Craigievar Castle are within half an hour. For walking, Loch Muick is about 20 minutes south. You might see red deer up there. The mountains like Lochnagar are there if you're serious about hiking. In winter, the ski resorts at the Lecht and Glenshee are about a 45-minute drive.
For facilities, you've got the basics: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Parking is on site. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's storage for bikes. No pets, I'm afraid.
