Darroch View
Darroch View is where I live. It's the top two floors of our old Victorian house, so it's a flat, not a cottage. It looks south over the garden and towards the hills. Ballater is a quiet sort of place.
It sleeps seven in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which helps when there's a few of you. They've given it a 5 Star rating, which mainly means everything is in good order and we keep it clean.
The stairs are what you'd expect in an old house like this. They're open and steep in parts. The ones to the very top bedrooms are narrow. Just so you know.
Downstairs is mostly open plan. Kitchen, table, sofas. There's an open fire we've left wood for. The village is a five minute walk. Plenty of places to eat or get a coffee if you don't fancy cooking.
You're right in the Cairngorms National Park. Walking and cycling start from the door. For fishing or golf, it's all nearby. In winter, the ski slopes at the Lecht and Glenshee are about a 30 minute drive.
Balmoral Castle is close. So is the Crathie Church. Loch Muick and Lochnagar are proper mountains, good for a long day out. The whisky drinkers usually visit the Royal Lochnagar Distillery.
Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right here. No pets, sorry.
