This is Craigendarroch House in Ballater. It's a big, stone house that sleeps twelve. Six bedrooms, five bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It's detached and private, with its own garden and a driveway, but you're only a few minutes' walk from the shops and places to eat in Ballater. The house is in the style of the local estate buildings, with turrets and a tower. The architect worked on Balmoral, which is just up the road. The back of the house looks straight up at Craigendarroch Hill. It's a steep climb to the top, but the view is worth it.
Inside, the rooms are large. There's a main drawing room with an open fire and plenty of space for everyone. There's a formal dining room, and a smaller snug if you want somewhere quiet. There's also a conservatory and an indoor bar area with a TV and fridges. It's well heated, so it's warm even in winter.
You're right in the Cairngorms National Park here. Good walking starts from the door. The River Dee is close by. For skiing, the Lecht and Glenshee centres are within about half an hour's drive. There's a golf course in Ballater, and others nearby in Braemar and Banchory.
For days out, Balmoral is the obvious one. Crathes Castle and Craigievar Castle are both within a 30 minute drive and well worth visiting. If you want to go a bit further, the coast or some of the Speyside distilleries are about an hour away.
Facilities: parking, enclosed garden, BBQ, bikes can be stored. In the house there's WiFi, TVs, a washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
