The Street Cottage is over in Uley village, maybe twenty minutes from Stroud. It's a proper old stone cottage, so it's a bit of a rabbit warren inside. There are wooden beams all over the place, you have to watch your head.
It sleeps six people. There are three bedrooms upstairs. There's one bathroom with a walk in shower over the bath. It has a four star rating. It's comfortable and clean.
The stairs are worth mentioning. They're the original cottage stairs and they go up to the first floor. Then there's another flight going up to the top bedrooms. They're narrow and a bit winding. Just be aware of that.
You get a woodburning stove in the living room. There's a dishwasher in the kitchen. There's a patio garden out the back. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
The village has a small shop and a decent pub that does food. There's an art café here too. The Cotswolds National Landscape starts just outside the village. The walk up to Uley Bury hill fort is a good one. Laurie Lee wrote about these walks.
Stroud is about four miles away. The Saturday farmers market is very good. If you want to go further, Gloucester and Cheltenham are about half an hour by car. Berkeley Castle and the canals at the Cotswold Canals Trust are both within a fifteen minute drive.
The cottage listing says it's Christmas themed. That means we put up a tree and some decorations if you're booking over the holiday.
