Sleaford is about six miles. You can get a train from there. It goes to Skegness, or all the way to London if you fancy a big day out. Sleaford has a museum, a working watermill called Cogglesford Mill, and local markets.
Lincoln is within a 30 minute drive. That's where the Cathedral and Castle are. Useful if you're planning a trip: Lincoln Cathedral and English Heritage for Lincoln Castle.
