This is Beudy Uchaf in Adfa, just outside Newtown. It's a converted barn on what used to be a farm. We live next door in the farmhouse.
The barn sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's new inside, oak floors and beams, but it's meant to feel comfortable, not showy. The drive up to it curves around the valley, so you're on your own up there. It's about thirty yards from the main track.
The place is surrounded by fields and hills. It's very quiet. The village of Adfa is just down the road, just a few houses really.
There's parking right outside. It's all on one level, so the access is flat and the doorways are wide. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and towels and bedding are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
For things to do, Kingfisher Kayaks are nearby on the River Severn or the Montgomery Canal. If you've got older kids, Mid Wales Off Road is close for go-karting. There's a golf course not far away in Caersws.
You're in the middle of Wales here. The coast at Aberdovey, or up into Snowdonia, is about an hour's drive. For local walks and history, Explore Powys has good maps. The National Trust in Wales looks after a few places not too far away, like Powis Castle.
