Appletree Lodge is in Heads of Ayr, just outside Ayr itself. It's a detached lodge, a new build.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which sounds fancy but really just means everything is good quality and works properly.
The best thing is the outside space. There's a big L-shaped deck with a hot tub that seats four, and plenty of outdoor furniture. There's a viewing platform that looks out across the water to Arran. You get good sunsets from there. The garden is large and landscaped, with a fire pit. It's all yours and it's enclosed.
Inside, it's all on one level and it's open plan. Wide doorways and walk-in showers, so it's suitable for wheelchair users. There's underfloor heating, a dishwasher, washing machine, all that.
Location is quiet and country-feeling, but you're not remote. There's a supermarket and a couple of takeaways less than a mile away. An Indian restaurant and a fish shop are within walking distance.
You're right on the Ayrshire coastal path for walks. The coast road from here goes past the famous Culzean Castle, which is about five miles south. The grounds are worth seeing.
Ayr town centre and its esplanade are about two miles. For golf, you're in the middle of it. Turnberry is about ten miles, Royal Troon about six, and there are the Belleisle and Seafield courses about a mile and a half away.
You're in Burns country. The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and the Brig o' Doon are a couple of miles off.
If you want to go further, you can get a ferry from Ardrossan to the Isle of Arran. The Galloway Forest Park is about an hour's drive.
Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair. There's bike storage and plenty of on-site parking. No pets.
