Mainslea is in Dunure, right on the coast. It's a detached house, so you're on your own. The view is the main thing. You look straight out over Dunure Castle ruins and the water to Arran. On a clear day, the mountains over there look close enough to touch.
It sleeps twelve people in six bedrooms. There are four bathrooms, which helps with a big group. It's a 4 Star property, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's not a palace, but it's a good, solid house.
The house is literally a couple of minutes' walk from the beach and the little harbour. You can hear the sea. The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs past, so you can step out the door and start walking. You'll see seals on the rocks sometimes.
Dunure itself is quiet. There's a pub about a quarter of a mile away that does food. For shops, you'll need to drive to Ayr or Maybole.
If you want to get out, you've got lots nearby. Culzean Castle and its country park are about ten minutes by car. The beaches at Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon are all within twenty minutes. Golfers know about Turnberry, which is a twenty-minute drive south.
For a day trip, getting the ferry from Ardrossan over to the Isle of Arran is straightforward and worth it. It feels like a different world.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: a proper kitchen with a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, TVs. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The garden is paved, with furniture. You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
