Monkwood Cottage is in Ponsonby, Cumbria. It's detached, sandstone, and sits in its own garden. The river Calder runs through a bit of private woodland next to it.
It sleeps four, across four bedrooms, with one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place. It's over three floors. The two attic bedrooms on the top floor are both singles and have low headroom. The king-size and double bedrooms are on the first floor. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower.
Downstairs, the kitchen has a Rayburn for heating and cooking, plus an electric oven and hob for backup. The living and dining room is open-plan, with a big wood burner and large windows looking out to the garden and river. There's a bothy next door with a washing machine, dryer, and freezer.
The garden is big enough for games. You have rights to fish in the river, catch and release for brown trout and salmon. You'll see a lot of wildlife around.
The cottage is in the National Park. Wasdale and Scafell Pike are a short drive away. There are footpaths you can pick up from the door. For a day out, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is nearby, and so is Muncaster Castle. The coastal town of Whitehaven is about a twenty-minute drive. Gosforth village has pubs and is three and a half miles away.
Facilities: parking, wood burner, WiFi, TV, cot, bedding and towels included, washing machine and dryer. No pets.
