The Peacock Barn

The Peacock Barn is in Woodlane, Staffordshire. It's one of three cottages around a courtyard on the farm. The farm isn't working, so it's just animals and fields. It's quiet.

It's a single-storey bungalow, so everything's on the ground floor. That makes it easier if stairs are a problem. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's well looked after. There's a proper garden that's fully enclosed, with a patio and a barbecue. You're welcome to bring one well-behaved dog.

The main thing here is the shared leisure building. It's right next to the cottages. There's an indoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a gym, and a games room. It's for the people staying in the three cottages to use.

The local pub is about half a mile down the lane. They do food. The nearest shop is a mile away in the village.

For getting out, you can walk straight from the door. Footpaths go across the local farmland and into the National Forest. There's a nature reserve less than a mile away. If you drive, there's a lot within about 30 minutes. Alton Towers and Drayton Manor are obvious ones for families. Lichfield Cathedral is beautiful. You've got Uttoxeter Racecourse, the SnowDome in Tamworth, and places like Shugborough Hall.

The Peak District isn't far. You can be at Dovedale in well under half an hour for a good walk.

Inside, it's open plan. There's a kitchen, a living area, and doors out to the garden. It has wifi and satellite TV. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. All the bedding is included. You can park right by the cottage.

Useful links if you're planning: The National Forest for local walks, and Peak District National Park for farther afield.
