Celyn is in Weston Madoc in Powys. It's a detached house built for a quarry manager. It's quite an imposing place from the front, but the back is where you'll want to be. It opens out onto a big garden with a patio. There are fields behind it.
It sleeps sixteen, which is a lot of people. Seven bedrooms, five bathrooms. That helps with the morning queue. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable but not a show home.
There's a proper swimming pool in a building next to the house. You have to book a time slot to use it. There's also a games room with a pool table and table tennis, and a cinema room.
The stairs are wide but there are quite a few of them. Something to note. The kitchen is big enough for everyone to get involved.
You can bring two dogs. There's a stairgate and a cot if you need them. Bedding and towels are included.
The nearest shop, pub, and restaurants are about a mile and a quarter away in the village.
You're close to the Offa's Dyke Path here. Powis Castle is just down the road. A few other National Trust places like Chirk Castle are within a 45 minute drive. The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway is nearby and good for an afternoon out.
Shrewsbury is about half an hour away if you want a proper town day. For water sports, Bala Lake and Llangollen are about 40 minutes. The mid-Wales coast is about an hour's drive.
