What a fantastic property for a great seaside break with the family! Set right on the seashore, Sea Haven, dating back to around 1830, is a wonderful detached house with extensive gardens leading to the rocky foreshore in the quaint village of Johnshaven. Furnished with style and flair, the cosy rooms have a bright and welcoming atmosphere with the living room and kitchen being open plan, a great place to chat about the day’s events over a meal or drink. The bedrooms are a combination of King size and twin rooms, making this a great choice for families with children. Outside, the lawned gardens feature a C-listed stone ruin, looking out over the wonderful seascape, where seals, dolphins and porpoises are often spotted.
The village itself boasts a very good pub serving food, as well as a lovely café and grocery store. Johnshaven is only a short drive from St Cyrus beach, a renowned conservation area and visitors will love the wide sandy spaces, rock pools at one end and the opportunity to spot whales, dolphins, seals and otters, which have been known to frequent the clear waters. Ornithologists are also well catered for, with the nearby Montrose Basin home to thousands of pink footed geese in winter as well as many other wading birds and seasonal visitors throughout the year.
Montrose, 10 miles, has plenty of facilities itself including two golf courses, tennis, bowls and plenty of independent shops and eateries. To the north, along the coast is Stonehaven, a popular tourist town featuring an outdoor lido and the ruins of Dunottar Castle. Inland, there are plenty of hillwalking opportunities in beautiful scenery up Glen Esk, Prosen and Clova. This is a brilliant location for exploring Aberdeenshire and Angus, Dundee and Aberdeen. Beach 5 yards.
