Exmoor View
Exmoor View is a semi-detached cottage next to our house, in the hamlet of Cheriton. You get your own patio and garden, which faces south. The view from the back is over our field and directly onto Exmoor.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is useful for groups. The stairs are a standard flight, nothing too steep. It has a 4 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable.
You can walk straight from the garden gate onto the moor. We have a dog exercise field next to the cottage, so it's handy if you're bringing pets. We allow up to two dogs.
The location is quiet. Exmoor has Dark Sky status, so you can see the stars really clearly at night if it's clear.
Lynton and Lynmouth is a short drive away. It's a proper little Victorian seaside town with shops, the cliff railway, and the Valley of Rocks to walk along. Watersmeet is nearby too, which is nice for a walk and a cream tea.
For beaches, Woolacombe and Croyde are about half an hour's drive and are good for surfing. There are quieter coves around too. On Exmoor itself, Dunkery Beacon is the highest point for a walk, and Tarr Steps is an ancient clapper bridge worth seeing.
If you want to explore further, Dunster Castle is about forty minutes away. The West Somerset Railway runs from Minehead. The South West Coast Path is accessible from various points along the coast here.
Facilities in the house include a wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is on site.
