Fferam Gorniog

Fferam Gorniog is on Holyhead Mountain. It's a detached cottage, built from stone, and it's one of the oldest houses up there. It's got thick walls and small windows, which is typical. That just means it feels very solid.

The views are the main thing. You look out over the harbour, the long breakwater, and across to the Snowdonia mountains. You can sit out on the terraced garden with a drink and just watch it all.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable, but it's still a cottage, not a show home. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing a dog. We allow one well-behaved pet.

You can walk up the mountain from the door. South Stack lighthouse is about five minutes in the car. It's an RSPB reserve, so there are a lot of birds on the cliffs. You often see seals in the water below.

Holyhead itself is a short drive for shops or the ferry terminal if you're going to Ireland. There's a pub and restaurant about a mile and a half away.

Within half an hour you can drive into Snowdonia. The castles at Conwy, Caernarfon, and Beaumaris are all easy to get to if you like that sort of thing.

The cottage has a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, wifi, and parking. All the bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair if you need one.
