The Golden Crown is in Tarbolton village. It's a big semi-detached house that sleeps 26, so it's really for a group. There are seven bedrooms and four bathrooms.
It’s got a 4 Star rating. The main thing that sets it apart are the extras: there’s an outdoor hot tub, a sauna, and an indoor Turkish steam room. The lounge has a big cinema screen. The garden is enclosed.
You can arrange to have meals catered here if you want, or book spa treatments. You’d need to sort that out with me directly before you come.
Location wise, there’s a shop and a pub about 250 yards away. A proper restaurant is two miles. The coast is about eight miles.
Tarbolton has strong links to Robert Burns. The Bachelors' Club, where he started a debating society, is here. It's a National Trust for Scotland property now and you can visit. If you like walking, the Ayrshire Coastal Path is on the doorstep, and the River Ayr Way starts nearby.
Golf is big here. Royal Troon and Turnberry are both within easy reach. Culzean Castle and Dumfries House are spectacular and worth a trip. You can get to the islands like Arran for a day out, or drive to Glasgow in under an hour.
The Galloway Forest Park is about a 30 minute drive. It’s massive and wild, good for seeing deer. It's also a Dark Sky Park, so if you're into stargazing, it's perfect. The Scottish Dark Observatory at Dalmellington is close by too.
Facilities cover the basics: bedding and towels are included, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's bike storage and a BBQ. It's available over Christmas.
