The Coach House Whittingham

The Coach House is in Whittingham, Northumberland. It's a detached stone building in a quiet farm courtyard. You look out over fields towards the Cheviot hills. It's a very peaceful spot.

It's all on ground level, so no stairs. It sleeps two, one bedroom with a double bed and one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean, comfortable and well looked after, with some old beams and an arched door. There's a wood burner in the living room. We leave you some logs to get started.

The village of Whittingham is about two miles away. There's a pub that does food, a shop, and a church with Saxon parts. Rothbury is ten miles west, a nice village with a few shops and cafes on the River Coquet. Alnwick is eight miles east, a proper market town with a castle and the famous Alnwick Garden.

You're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. Good walking and cycling from the door. The coast is about half an hour's drive east. Beaches like Alnmouth and Bamburgh are over there, and it's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you're interested in history, Cragside estate in Rothbury is a National Trust property. It was the first house lit by hydroelectricity. The owners here are qualified mountain leaders and climbing instructors. They can arrange guided walks or climbing sessions if you book in advance.

For facilities, you've got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We accept up to two well-behaved dogs.

There are two other cottages in the same courtyard, Grooms Cottage and Granary Cottage. They can be booked together if you're coming with another couple or a family.
