Shawdon Hill Coach House

Shawdon Hill Coach House is near Glanton. It's separate from the main house, a single storey place built in the 1830s. The location is quiet, just off the A697, so it's easy to get to but feels remote.

It’s a 4 Star place, sleeps two in one bedroom with a king size bed. The bathroom has a shower. Everything's on one level. The main room is open plan. There's a kitchen area with a dishwasher and washing machine, a dining table, and a sofa by the wood burner. The bedroom looks out into the garden. The garden itself is enclosed, mostly lawn with a bit of woodland and a gravel terrace.

You get bedding and towels. There’s a TV and Wi-Fi. A cot is available. You can bring one dog.

The Plough Inn pub is about half a mile away. The nearest shop is a mile and a half, in Powburn. For a bigger shop or a nice meal out, Alnwick is about eight miles. It’s got the castle and the Alnwick Garden. Rothbury is nine miles, that's where you find Cragside, the National Trust property. Wooler is about eleven miles, good for cafes and walking into the Cheviots.

The coast is under half an hour's drive. Lots of castles are within about twenty-five miles. It’s good for walking and the night skies can be very clear here.

If you’re planning trips, these sites are useful: National Trust Northumberland, Northumberland National Park, and Northumberland Coast AONB.
