The Barn By The Lake Woolcotts

The Barn By The Lake is in Woolcotts, Somerset. It's on a private road next to Wimbleball Activity Centre. The lake is basically your back garden. The view from the decking is just water and trees.

It's a barn conversion that sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well fitted out.

The living space is open plan with a wood burner. There's a mezzanine floor with twin beds, reached by a steep wooden staircase. There's a single bedroom on the middle floor, and the main bedroom with a king size bed is at the back. Steps then go down to a second living and dining room.

You're right in the Exmoor National Park. The activity centre next door means you can hire kayaks, sailing boats, paddle boards, that sort of thing. Or you can bring your own and pay a launch fee. There's fly fishing on the lake for trout. Miles of walking and cycling trails start from the door.

Dulverton is about six miles away for shops and places to eat. The nearest pub is a mile, a shop and restaurant are two miles. A good day out is Tarr Steps or Dunkery Beacon, which is the highest point on Exmoor. Dunster village and castle are worth a visit, and the West Somerset Railway at Minehead. The coast at Porlock Weir, or Lynton and Lynmouth, are all within about half an hour.
