The Bothy is in Fordcombe village, in Kent. It's a little old place that used to be a gardener's cottage. We've done it up so it's light and straightforward inside.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's quite handy. Everything's on one level from the front door through to the main bedroom and living area, so there are no steps to worry about.
You've got your own enclosed patio and a big private paddock out the back. It's just a field, really. Good if you've got kids or dogs to let off. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
Inside, there's a wood burner for colder nights, a dishwasher, washing machine, that sort of thing. All the bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
The village has a pub. It's a proper local, does food. For shops, you'd drive to Tunbridge Wells or Tonbridge. Tonbridge station has fast trains to London if you needed that, but it feels properly rural here.
You're in the High Weald, so it's all farmland and woods for walking. Hever Castle is about ten minutes away by car. Penshurst Place is even closer. If you fancied the coast, places like Rye and Camber Sands are within half an hour.
