Monks Thatch is in Otterton, just inland from the coast between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. It's a thatched cottage, as the name suggests. Two bedrooms, sleeps four. One bathroom but it's a good one with both a bath and a walk-in shower.
It's got a 4 Star rating. Everything you need is there. There's a woodburning stove in the dining room, which is separate from the living room. Stairs are normal.
The garden is yours to use, with a patio and some furniture. From June to August, you also get use of the swimming pool. It's shared with a few other properties, but it's right outside the front door.
Otterton is a quiet village. There's a local pub within walking distance. The main thing here is the walking. You're right by the South West Coast Path. The walk along the River Otter to the sea at Budleigh Salterton is lovely. Otterton Mill is worth a visit for the cafe and the bakery.
By car, you're about 10 minutes from Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Ladram Bay, with its red cliffs, is just along the coast. Exmouth is about 20 minutes. Exeter is half an hour away if you need a city.
For places to visit, the National Trust Devon page is useful. So is the East Devon National Landscape site for walks.
Facilities: WiFi, parking, washing machine, dishwasher, cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
