Horseshoes

Horseshoes is a barn conversion near Garlandhayes, just inside Somerset. It's detached, so no one's attached to you, and it's on a quiet lane in the middle of the Blackdown Hills. You get a good bit of garden, mostly to the front, which is enclosed.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. The whole place is on the ground floor, so no stairs. The doors are wide enough for a wheelchair and there are no steps at the front, so access is pretty good.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It feels spacious inside, all open plan. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

You're right in the Blackdown Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lanes here are very quiet. There are two pubs about half a mile down the road. A decent shop is two miles away.

If you like walking, you're set. Castle Neroche is three and a half miles away. It's an old forest with miles of walks and trails. The Wellington Monument is two miles from here. It's the tallest triangular obelisk in the world. You can walk up to it.

Taunton is about six miles. That's got all the big supermarkets, the racecourse, and the cricket ground. Wellington is a smaller town, with a sports centre, a cinema, and a farmers' market twice a month.
