Les Quatre Vents is our place in Dungeness. It's a bungalow, detached, so you're on your own out there. It sleeps four, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable but not luxurious.
The location is the main thing. It's private, down a track, a few minutes' walk from the shingle beach. The whole area is a nature reserve. It's very flat and open, with the old wooden houses, the lighthouses, and the power station all in view. It feels a bit like the end of the world.
The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway line ends about a hundred yards from the gate. You hear the steam trains chuffing past sometimes. It's nice.
There's a small patio garden. Inside, it's all on one level. There's a shower, a dishwasher, and parking right outside.
You can take one well-behaved dog. Bedding is included.
For a pint or a cup of tea, there's a place about a quarter of a mile away. The nearest shop for basics is in Lydd, about a mile's drive.
If you're interested in the area, the RSPB Dungeness site has good information on the wildlife. For general history and things to see, English Heritage has properties along the Kent coast.
