Hafod Station is a cottage in Dungeness. We built it around an old railway carriage. It's on the shingle beach, right on the coast. The view is just sea and sky. It's detached and quiet, but you've got neighbours nearby and the local pub is a short walk.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms with one bathroom. Everything is on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating. We've tried to use reclaimed materials where we could.
It's a railway theme, obviously. We can decorate the carriage part for special occasions if you want, like a birthday or Christmas. That's something you'd need to arrange with us directly beforehand, and there's an extra charge.
The beach is about twenty yards from the door. The pub, the Britannia, is about five minutes walk. There's a restaurant half a mile away. For groceries, you'd need to drive to Lydd or New Romney.
Dungeness itself is an odd and interesting place. It's a huge shingle headland with two lighthouses, old fishing boats, and the power station. It's a National Nature Reserve. Good for walks and birdwatching. The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway stops here, which is a proper small-gauge steam train line. You can find details at RHDR.
Within half an hour you can drive to Camber Sands for a longer beach, or Rye for the historic town. Folkestone and the Channel Tunnel are about twenty minutes away.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We accept one well-behaved dog. The garden is patioed.
